Forensic Genetics
Forensic Genetics is an emerging scientific discipline that uses genetics to help solve crimes and identify people in legal cases. It involves the analysis of biological material from crime scenes to identify individuals – such as suspects, victims and missing persons – and their connection to criminal activities. Forensic Genetics is an invaluable tool for law enforcement agencies, as it can be used to collect evidence, strengthen circumstantial evidence, and identify suspects with greater accuracy. Its use has enabled courts worldwide to not only convict criminals, but also exonerate victims of wrongful convictions. In addition, Forensic Genetics has been successfully utilized in a number of other areas, such as anthropology, human identification in mass disasters, and making legal decisions involving immigration and paternity disputes.
