Cryptosporidiosis
Cryptosporidiosis is a diarrhoeal disease caused by Cryptosporidium, a protozoan parasite. It can affect humans and animals, and is primarily spread through contaminated food, water and contact with infected animals or individuals. Symptoms in humans include watery diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes fever and weight loss. In some cases, it can lead to severe dehydration, malnutrition and even death. Treatment typically includes antibiotics, rehydration and electrolyte replacement therapy. Prevention measures should include rigorous handwashing, proper food preparation, adequate water treatment, and avoiding contact with infected individuals or animals.
