It is an excellent source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein, and is considered to be the most important cereal crop for human nutrition. Barley is also a major source of livestock feed, and is used in a variety of industrial applications, including the production of malt for beer, whisky distillation, and the manufacture of other malt-based products.
