Prevention
of Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders Upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders (UEMDs) are a group of health conditions that affect the muscles and bones of the arms and hands. UEMDs can cause pain, discomfort, and reduced mobility or even disability. To prevent these conditions from occurring, employers and workers should implement measures such as proper workstation design, ergonomic work methods, and workplace health and safety programs. This can prevent the onset of UEMDs, as well as reduce the severity and cost of treating existing UEMDs. Early intervention and prevention are key to reducing the impacts of UEMDs on individuals and businesses.
