Metabolism

Metabolism is the sum of all the chemical reactions that occur in the body, providing the energy and building blocks to sustain life. It is essential for all living things, from plants and animals to fungi and bacteria. Metabolism is responsible for sustaining life by converting food into energy, and for manufacturing the proteins, carbohydrates and lipids that are the building blocks of cells and organs. Metabolism helps maintain homeostasis, regulating hormones, neurotransmitters and other regulatory molecules. Imbalances in metabolism can lead to disease and health conditions, making it a significant factor in the maintenance of overall health.
