Desflurane

Desflurane is a type of anesthetic gas used in anesthesia during surgery. It is nonflammable, has immediate effect, and is quickly metabolized by the body which helps reduce the risks associated with prolonged use of anesthetics. It is considered to be one of the safest anesthetics as its low solubility allows for rapid decrease in partial pressure, making the patient more responsive to stimulation. Desflurane is used in many types of surgeries, including general, orthopedic, gynecological, and urologic. It is also used for regional and local anesthesia, including epidurals, as well as for pain management.
