Adenosine
Triphosphate Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleotide molecule that serves as the universal energy currency of all living things. ATP is essential for maintaining life and plays a key role in many complex biochemical processes. ATP works by releasing energy from its chemical bonds, which is then used by cells to carry out metabolic reactions, power muscle contractions, and carry signals from one part of the cell to another. It is also used to store and transport energy for use in metabolic reactions. ATP is produced in the cell by an enzyme-mediated process called the Krebs cycle. Without ATP, most biological functions would stop, making it essential for the life of all living organisms.
