Miscarriage
Miscarriage is the spontaneous termination of a pregnancy before the embryo or fetus is capable of surviving outside the uterus. It occurs in about 10–15% of recognized pregnancies and is the most common type of pregnancy loss. A miscarriage is a significant and upsetting experience for those affected. It is important to seek support from family members, friends, or a health professional to discuss the physical and emotional implications. Treatment of miscarriage depends on the cause and time in the pregnancy. Early recognition and treatment may reduce the risk of future miscarriages.
