Infectious Disease
Infectious disease is any disease that is caused by the presence and growth of pathogenic biological agents in a person. It can be spread through person-to-person contact, through contact with an infected animal, through contact with contaminated objects, or through exposure to contaminated food or water. Infectious diseases can have serious consequences, including death, and have great significance in public health. Treatment of infectious diseases usually involves antibiotics, antiviral medications, or immunizations. Prevention and control of infectious diseases can be achieved through proper hygienic practices, proper sanitation and waste disposal, and proper control of vectors, such as mosquitoes and ticks.
