Crop Rotation
Crop rotation is an agricultural practice that involves cultivating different types of crops in a particular order in the same piece of land over a period of time. It helps to restore soil health, maintain soil fertility, manage pests, and avoid disease build-up in the soil. By rotating different types of crops, one can introduce nutrient cycles, maintain a balanced nutrient supply, improve resilience of the soil, break pest and disease cycles, increase the water-holding capacity of the soil and increase the yield of the crop. Crop rotation also helps farmers keep their costs low by reducing the need for additional fertilizer and pesticide applications. In addition, it helps to reduce soil erosion, conserve water, and reduce the carbon footprint of the farm.
