Crop Breeding
Crop breeding is the process of selecting plants with desirable traits and breeding them in order to produce a new variety of crop with those particular traits. This process has been used to develop various crops that are higher-yielding, more resistant to local conditions, resistant to diseases and pests, and nutritionally improved. Crop breeding has been instrumental in Agriculture, as it not only increases yields, but also helps to reduce hunger and malnutrition by providing crops that are of better quality and more available to people. It is also used to help make farming more sustainable, as crops that have been bred to withstand local conditions require fewer resources to grow.
