Toxic Shock Syndrome
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare, life-threatening condition caused by a toxin-producing strain of bacteria. It typically occurs in women of child-bearing age, causing a sudden high fever, headache, and rash, as well as muscle aches and vomiting. In severe cases, it can lead to organ failure and shock. Prompt and appropriate treatment is essential for recovery, and it is important to be able to recognize the early signs of TSS in order to reduce the risk of severe complications. TSS is an important public health concern and its prevention requires good hygiene and an understanding of risk factors.
