Scarlet Fever
Scarlet fever is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes. It is characterized by an intense red rash on the body, fever and a sore throat. The rash is often accompanied by swollen glands in the neck, headaches, nausea and vomiting. Scarlet fever is generally mild in healthy children and can be treated with antibiotics. However, it can be serious if left untreated. Children who are immunocompromised or have other underlying health conditions are more likely to suffer more severe symptoms. The disease can be spread through contact with infected saliva or nasal secretions. The best way to prevent scarlet fever is through proper hygiene practices and vaccination.
