Immunotoxicology

Immunotoxicology is the study of toxic chemicals and how they impact the functioning of the immune system. It is an interdisciplinary field which combines immunology, toxicology, and environmental health to understand how environmental exposures to hazardous substances, like air pollutants, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals, can cause adverse health effects through damage to the immune system. Immunotoxicology is a rapidly growing field and has important implications for public health and safety as it can identify and prevent health problems caused by exposure to hazardous materials. By understanding the effects of hazardous chemicals on the immune system, immunotoxicologists can help to inform policy decisions and develop strategies that protect human health.
