Aflatoxins
Aflatoxins are a group of highly toxic compounds produced by certain fungi (or molds) that commonly grow on common grains, such as maize, peanuts, and other crops. They have been linked to liver cancer and other serious diseases, and are considered one of the most dangerous toxins in the world. Aflatoxins can contaminate food and animal feed, leading to serious health issues in humans, animals, and poultry. As a result, their presence needs to be monitored and controlled. To achieve this, preventative measures are taken, such as proper storage, treatment, and inspection of food and feed. Additionally, testing of food, animal feed, and environmental samples is essential to detect the presence of aflatoxins, in order to protect human and animal health.
