Restoration Ecology
Restoration ecology is the scientific study of restoring a disturbed ecosystem to its original condition prior to human intervention. This is done by introducing native species and removing any species which are not native. This is important because it helps to restore the ecological balance of an ecosystem, allowing it to be better able to carry out its natural functions. Restoration ecology is a vital tool in helping to protect the environment by restoring areas which have been damaged by human activities such as deforestation, pollution, and urbanization. Restoration ecology is also used to manage land for conservation, improve water quality, reduce soil erosion, and increase biodiversity.
