Precambrian Supereon
The Precambrian Supereon is a geologic eon spanning approximately 4.5 billion years, from the beginning of Earth's history up until the start of the Cambrian Period 541 million years ago. During the Precambrian Supereon, Earth's atmosphere and oceans became the basic elements that support life today. During this time, the evolution of the earliest forms of life began, including bacteria and single celled organisms, as well as rudimentary plants and animals. This period is significant for its pivotal role in establishing the conditions for complex multi-cellular life to eventually arise. In addition, it is key in the study of geology, evolution and the history of life on Earth. The Precambrian Supereon provides valuable information about the formation of the planet and is essential for understanding the evolution of life on Earth.
