Physical Anthropology
Physical anthropology is the study of human biological variation, adaptation, and evolution. It focuses on the physical and physiological structure, fossils, and evolutionary history of humans to understand how and why humans are the way they are. This field also examines and draws comparisons between various primate species, ancient and modern humans. Through this research, physical anthropologists are able to gain insight on the influences of environmental and socio-cultural factors on human biology and behavior. Physical anthropology is an important field of research as it allows us to understand the relationships between humans and their ancestors, the effects of our environment, and the differences and similarities between different groups of people. It is useful for informing health practices, understanding the human fossil record, and can provide insight on the development and diversity of human culture.
