Phylogenetics

Phylogenetics is the study of the evolutionary relationships between species. It is based on the comparison of genetic materials such as DNA and protein sequences, allowing us to reconstruct the evolutionary history of species and gain insights into their adaptation process. This knowledge is essential to understanding the diversity of life on Earth and the interplay between species. Phylogenetics is particularly important to conservation efforts, as understanding species relationships can inform strategies to prevent species loss by targeting those at greatest risk of extinction. Furthermore, phylogenetic analysis can be used in bioinformatics, taxonomy, and epidemics.
