Permian Period
The Permian Period was an era in Earth's history that lasted for almost 54 million years, taking place from 299 million to 252 million years ago. During this time, the global climate began to cool, leading to the formation of glaciations in the Southern Hemisphere. This was a major event in Earth's history as it marked the final period of the Paleozoic Era and set the stage for the development of the Mesozoic Era. It was also a time of significant evolutionary development, as the Permian Period saw the emergence of numerous new species, including the first true mammals and reptiles. The fossils from this era provide valuable information about the evolution of life on Earth and the changing conditions of the planet's climate during this time.
