Morphometrics
Morphometrics is the scientific study of the size and shape of organismal features. It is used to examine morphological variation (e.g., among species) and evolutionary relationships, as well as to analyze physiological, ecological and behavioral differences. Morphometrics enables researchers to determine the size and shape of an organism in order to compare it to similar species and organisms. This helps to understand the overall growth and development of a species as well as evaluate evolutionary relationships between different taxa. Morphometrics also allows us to compare body shapes across species, which can be used to help understand how organisms adapt and respond to their environment and other organisms. Morphometrics is used in a variety of fields such as zoology, anthropology, and ecology, as well as in research areas such as evolutionary biology and conservation.
