Gastropods
Gastropods are a widely diversified group of mollusks, including snails and slugs. They play an essential role in many ecosystems, breaking down dead organic matter and eating algae, fungi, and plants, which helps to keep ecosystems healthy. They are also a key source of food for numerous species, including fish, birds, and other invertebrates. Gastropods are an important component of many aquaculture systems, providing habitat diversity, natural filtration, and food for cultured species. Additionally, some species of gastropods are used as food sources for humans, in both their natural environment and in aquaculture systems.
