Evolutionary Teratology

Evolutionary teratology is a scientific field that studies the evolutionary history of physical deformations, such as birth defects. It is important to understand the patterns of evolution that shape and determine the development of these deformations since they will inform us of the developmental processes underlying them. This information can be used to create knowledge that can be utilized to identify, prevent, and detect developmental abnormalities. Furthermore, this knowledge can be used to design effective treatments for these disorders, which can improve outcomes and reduce the burden of disease. Additionally, understanding the history of physical deformations provides us with insights into the evolutionary history of the species, which can further inform scientific research in related fields.
