Ecotoxicology

Ecotoxicology is the scientific study of the effects of toxic chemicals and other materials on ecosystems, organisms, and species. It focuses on the impact of toxicants on the environment, including the effects of pollutants entering the atmosphere, water and soil, as well as the interaction of these pollutants with living organisms. Ecotoxicology provides valuable insights into the health of the environment, allowing assessment of environmental hazards, creation of pollution-control strategies, and mitigation of environmental damage. Ecotoxicological research is used to inform environmental standards and regulations, helping to protect ecosystems, species and humans from pollution and other environmental hazards.
