Ecotone
An ecotone is a transitional zone between two distinct ecosystems, where interactions between the two communities of both ecosystems create a unique habitat that has its own characteristics. This zone is beneficial to both ecosystems, as it helps protect them from the effects of extreme changes in environment, and provides a larger variety of habitats for animals and plants. Ecotones are important for maintaining biodiversity and are used as a tool for conservation in many parts of the world. They are also studied for their potential to provide insight into climate change, as an understanding of their dynamics and interactions can help predict and mitigate possible impacts.
