Etiology of Infection
Etiology of infection is the study of the causes and origins of infectious diseases. It is a branch of medical science that encompasses a wide range of topics including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Understanding the etiology of an infection helps to inform diagnosis and the selection of treatment options (e.g. antibiotics), as well as provide an understanding of how the infection spreads and how it can be prevented. As such, etiology of infection is critically important for the preservation and protection of public health.
