Etiology of Depression
Depression is a pervasive mental health disorder which is characterized by a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Etiology is the scientific study of the causes or origins of a particular disorder or condition. The etiology of depression is complex and is believed to be the result of multiple factors, including genetic predisposition, environmental conditions, and lifestyle choices. Recent studies suggest that inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and neurotransmitter abnormalities may also play a role. A better understanding of the etiology of depression helps to inform treatment options and may lead to earlier recognition and intervention. It is therefore an important area of research for modern mental health professionals.
