Post-translational Modification

Post-translational modification (PTM) is a process that occurs after the translation of genetic information into proteins. It is a critical step in the formation of proteins and can alter the activity and structure of these proteins. PTMs can be used to regulate cellular processes and can affect the activity of cell signalling. They are also involved in the development of diseases and in controlling the body’s response to environmental changes and stress. PTM is important for the proper functioning of organisms and has many applications in biotechnology, medicine and pharmacology.
