Metabolic Networks
Metabolic networks refer to the pathways within living cells that are responsible for converting simple molecules to larger, more complex compounds. Thanks to their complexity, these networks play an essential role in a cell’s ability to extract energy and build macromolecules, such as proteins and DNA. Understanding metabolic networks is key to understanding life processes and may even lead to the development of treatments for diseases. Metabolic networks are studied using mathematical and computational models to analyze the metabolic system and understand its behavior. Knowing the metabolic pathways and their conditions allows scientists to design strategies to modify them to achieve desired results, such as the production of bioproducts for medical use.
