Glycosylation
Glycosylation is the process of attaching sugar molecules to proteins and lipids. It is the most prevalent and essential post-translational modification of proteins and plays an important role in protein folding, membrane targeting, recognition, immune response and signaling. Glycosylation is a versatile method that can be used to control the stability and function of proteins, and has important implications for drug delivery and medical treatments. As such, understanding and controlling the glycosylation process is critical to the development of life-saving therapeutic agents.
