Biosensors

A biosensor is a device that can detect the presence of a specific molecule, like a hormone, by using a biological compound such as an enzyme or an antibody. This type of sensor is used in a variety of applications, ranging from medical diagnostic tests to environmental monitoring. The advantage of using a biosensor is that it is sensitive, fast and cost-effective, making it a powerful tool for detecting small amounts of a given target molecule with high accuracy. In the medical field, biosensors are used to detect the presence of a disease marker in the blood, such as a virus or a particular type of bacteria. In environmental monitoring, biosensors can be used to detect pollutants in water or air, and can even be used to detect food spoilage. In addition, biosensors are increasingly being used for security purposes in order to detect explosives, drugs or other contraband.
