Nuclear Matrix

The nuclear matrix is a three-dimensional network of proteins that helps to maintain the structure of nuclear chromatin and supports the transcriptional activity of DNA. It is found in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells and helps control gene expression and cell division. Nuclear matrices are involved in numerous cellular processes, including chromosome condensation, nuclear pore assembly, telomere organization, and DNA damage repair. By providing a structural support for the DNA and its associated proteins, the nuclear matrix is essential for the regulation and maintenance of gene expression and cell viability. Nuclear matrix proteins are also important in gene regulation and cell signalling, and can be used as diagnostic tools in cancer and other diseases.
