Nuclear Decontamination

Nuclear decontamination is the process of removing radioactive materials from an object or environment. It is used to protect people and the environment from the potential hazardous effects of radiation. Decontamination techniques can include physical techniques such as removing or covering contaminated items, or chemical techniques such as washing with a special solution. Nuclear decontamination is an important part of the clean-up process after accidents or incidents involving nuclear weapons, nuclear reactors or nuclear waste. It is also used to ensure that nuclear facilities and equipment are safe to operate.
