Turner Syndrome
Turner Syndrome is a genetic condition that affects females and results in physical, intellectual and psychological development due to the absence of a gene found on the X chromosome. It is the most common chromosome abnormality among females, causing about 1 in 2500 female newborns to have Turner Syndrome. Common physical characteristics include a short stature, low hairline, broad chest and low-set ears. The effects of Turner Syndrome can be managed with hormones, speech therapy, physical therapy and other treatments. It is important to diagnose Turner Syndrome as early as possible so that medical interventions can be provided to help mitigate the effects of the condition.
