Resistin

Resistin is a type of protein, or hormone, produced in the body's fat cells. It has been found to be linked to insulin resistance and diabetes in humans, and has been associated with other chronic diseases such as obesity, fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular disease. In addition, resistin has been identified as a potential early indicator of metabolic syndrome in humans. Its levels are higher in overweight individuals and those with chronic diseases, and are lower in those with healthy body weights. Resistin levels can be measured through a simple blood test, and this can help to assess the risk of developing chronic diseases. As it can be a predictor of diabetes and other metabolic disorders, resistin is an important tool for health-care professionals to use in improving patient outcomes.
