Parathyroid Tumors

Parathyroid tumors are abnormal growths of cells that form in the parathyroid glands located in the neck. These tumors can cause an overproduction of parathyroid hormone, resulting in a condition called hyperparathyroidism. Hyperparathyroidism is linked to a variety of health issues, including weakened bones, kidney stones, depression, fatigue, and hypertension. Parathyroid tumor treatment can involve surgery, radiation therapy, and medications. Surgery is the primary treatment and involves the complete removal of the tumor. Radiation therapy and medications are used as supplemental treatments. Early detection and treatment of parathyroid tumors can help prevent serious health complications.
