Paragangliomas

Paragangliomas are rare tumors that originate in the cells of the paraganglia, a type of nervous tissue located throughout the body. These tumors typically develop in the abdomen, head and neck, thorax, or pelvis, and can spread to other organs. Symptoms typically depend on the location of the tumor and can include headaches, abdominal pain, or difficulty swallowing. Without treatment, these tumors may become malignant and spread to other organs, making them potentially life-threatening. Paragangliomas can be treated with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Early detection and diagnosis is key for successful treatment and long-term prognosis.
