Ovarian Failure (also Known As Premature Menopause)
Ovarian failure, also known as premature menopause, is a medical condition that occurs when a woman’s ovaries no longer produce adequate amounts of estrogen, progesterone, and other hormones essential for fertility and sexual health. Symptoms of ovarian failure usually include irregular or absent menstrual periods, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and difficulty sleeping. This condition can occur at any age but is most common in women between the ages of 20 and 40. Ovarian failure can have serious consequences for a woman’s health and reproductive life, such as infertility, bone loss, and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Treatment for ovarian failure typically includes hormone therapy and lifestyle modification, as well as medically assisted reproductive technologies, such as in-vitro fertilization, to help with fertility. Early diagnosis and intervention is important to ensure the best possible outcome.
