Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions, including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat, and abnormal cholesterol levels, that increase a person's risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. Metabolic syndrome is becoming increasingly common, affecting an estimated 25% of adults in the USA. Lifestyle modifications such as healthy eating, regular physical activity, and weight management are important strategies for reducing the risk of metabolic syndrome and its associated health problems.
