Menstrual Function or Fertility Disorders
Menstrual and fertility disorders refer to a range of conditions that can affect a woman's ability to conceive and/or cause irregular menstrual cycles. These disorders can interfere with the successful conception of a baby, and have a physical, psychological, and social impact on women and their families. The most common fertility disorders include polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, premature ovarian failure, and uterine fibroids. Treatment of fertility disorders typically involves lifestyle changes, hormonal therapies, and/or surgery, depending on the type and severity of the condition. With advances in reproductive medicine, many of these issues can be managed with the help of fertility specialists. Understanding how these issues may impact fertility and seeking appropriate help is critical for couples who are trying to conceive.
