Menopause

Menopause is the cessation of a woman's menstrual cycle, usually occurring between ages 45 and 55. It marks the end of her fertility and is characterized by a decrease in her hormone production, most notably estrogen. The drop in hormones can cause a variety of physical and psychological symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, anxiety, mood swings, and depression. Menopause can also increase the risk of certain chronic diseases, such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Treatments for menopause typically focus on addressing the symptoms, such as through hormone therapy, medications, or lifestyle interventions. In addition, diet and exercise can help to reduce symptoms and support overall health during this time.
