Hyperglycemia

Hyperglycemia is a medical condition in which a person has an abnormally high level of glucose (sugar) in their blood. It occurs when the body has too much glucose in the blood, either due to the body not producing enough insulin or due to cells not responding to insulin correctly. Hyperglycemia can be a serious health condition, as it leads to increased risk for diabetes and other health complications, such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease. Early diagnosis and treatment of hyperglycemia can help prevent these serious illnesses. Treatment includes lifestyle changes such as exercising, a healthy diet, and the use of medications such as insulin and sulfonylureas.
