Hormone Substitutes and Hormone Antagonists
Hormone substitutes and hormone antagonists are substances that mimic or block hormones in the body to help regulate certain processes and reduce the symptoms of medical conditions. Hormone substitutes, such as synthetic growth hormone and testosterone, can be used to treat deficiencies in these hormones. Hormone antagonists, such as tamoxifen, can be used to treat hormone-responsive cancers, endometriosis, and other conditions. By blocking the activity of hormones, antagonists can reduce symptoms caused by hormone imbalances. Due to their ability to mimic and block the activity of hormones, hormone substitutes and hormone antagonists are important drugs in the field of endocrinology and are used in the treatment of a variety of conditions.
