Granulosa Cells
Granulosa cells are specialized cells that are located in the female reproductive tract and are essential for ovulation and fertility. They secrete essential hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, which are involved in controlling the reproductive cycle. Granulosa cells also play an important role in developing the egg follicle and supporting the development of the corpus luteum. Abnormalities in the growth and/or number of granulosa cells can lead to infertility, and their dysfunction can cause premature menopause and endometrial problems. Granulosa cells are also used in research to study fertility and reproduction in mammals.
