Endocrine System Diseases
The endocrine system is a network of glands and organs throughout the body which secrete hormones; these hormones regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood. Endocrine diseases, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and growth hormone deficiency, can occur when the body experiences hormonal imbalances or fails to produce or use hormones correctly. Treatment options vary depending on the endocrine disorder, and may include medications, lifestyle changes, or surgery. When endocrine diseases are correctly diagnosed and treated early, it can improve long-term health outcomes and reduce complications.
