Autoantibodies
Autoantibodies are antibodies that are produced by the body's own immune system and act against the body's own tissues and cells. They are significant molecules in immunology and are involved in many autoimmune diseases, such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. Autoantibodies can be used for diagnostic purposes in many medical conditions through a process known as autoantibody testing. The test involves taking a sample of a person’s blood and looking for antibodies that are present in it. It is a simple, safe, and reliable way to diagnose autoimmune diseases.
