Acquired Disorders
Acquired disorders are medical conditions which are developed after birth. Examples include acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), diabetes, and dermatological conditions, among others. These disorders can have a profound impact on quality of life, leading to pain, disability and loss of function. Treatment and management of acquired disorders can involve dietary and lifestyle changes, pharmacologic treatments and therapies. Early diagnosis, preventive measures and proper management are key to minimizing the impact of acquired disorders. Acquired disorders are an important public health issue and research into their causes and treatments continues to progress.
