Trophoblasts

Trophoblasts are the outer layer of cells that form in a fertilized egg, providing nutrients and protection to a developing embryo. Through their complex interactions with the surrounding environment, they play a significant role in preparing the uterus for a successful pregnancy. Trophoblast cells also have the capability to differentiate into various fetal tissues and organs, such as the placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic sac. Because of their powerful growth abilities, trophoblasts are used in research for studying infertility, regenerative medicine, and cancer treatments. As trophoblasts are essential for a successful pregnancy, their study is important for improving pregnancy outcomes.
