Peripheral Arterial Disease
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a serious medical condition caused by the narrowing of the arteries in the legs, due to a build-up of plaque. This reduces the supply of oxygen-rich blood to the legs, leading to pain, numbness, and even limb loss. PAD can be a sign of a more serious problem such as coronary artery disease, stroke, or diabetes. Early detection and treatment of PAD can help to reduce the risk of these more serious conditions and improve the quality of life. Diagnosis and treatment of PAD may involve lifestyle changes, medications, and in some cases, surgery.
