Parthenogenesis
Parthenogenesis is a type of asexual reproduction in which offspring are produced from an unfertilized egg. It is an interesting phenomenon in the animal kingdom, as it allows for the rapid production of offspring without the need for a male counterpart. Among the organisms known to reproduce through parthenogenesis - which means "virgin birth" - are rotifers, aphids, ants, bees, and some reptiles. This reproductive strategy enables organisms to quickly occupy new niches or environments and has been found to be advantageous for species living in unpredictable environments.
